Curriculum Structure

Year 1: Foundations of Interior Architecture

In the first year, students are introduced to the core principles of interior architecture. The curriculum emphasizes spatial design, materiality, and the relationship between users and spaces. Modules such as Design Principles and Interventions and Representation lay the groundwork for creative and technical skills. Students engage in projects like designing a student social hub and exhibition spaces, fostering an understanding of materials and design processes.

Year 2: Developing Design Competence

The second year builds upon foundational knowledge, introducing more complex design challenges. Students focus on user-centered design, sustainability, and advanced representation techniques. Modules like Creating Spaces and Exploring Design Contexts encourage students to consider diverse user needs and contextual factors in their designs. Projects may include designing hospitality spaces, allowing students to apply their learning in real-world scenarios.

Year 3: Professional Practice and Final Project

In the final year, students consolidate their learning through a significant design project. The Creative Practice Major Project module allows students to propose and create their own brief based on a theme or issue of interest. This culminates in the creation of a comprehensive design portfolio, showcasing their skills and understanding of interior architecture.
