Program Overview

In this program, you will delve into various aspects of music, including performance, composition, songwriting, music technology, studio production, music theory, and specialization in classical, jazz, and popular genres. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, and you will examine key concepts and ideas in music, ranging from historical, political, economic, technological, and aesthetic perspectives. Additionally, you will develop your skills in harmony, instrumentation, orchestration, musicianship, and the ability to write and perform music convincingly in a variety of styles.

Along with gaining cultural capital through an in-depth understanding of musical repertoires and practices, you will also acquire skills in original music composition, music performance, and critical analysis. In your third year, you will have the opportunity to propose a topic of your choosing to investigate with the guidance of a designated supervisor.
