1 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

The University of Northampton

Program Overview

The Popular Music top-up BA program at the University of Northampton offers students the opportunity to tailor their focus within popular music according to their interests. The program blends practical music-making with academic studies or allows students to learn something new.

The Popular Music top-up course is designed as the final year of the undergraduate degree, building on the skills and qualifications acquired in the previous two years. In the third year, students can choose from a range of options, including Professional Project, Popular Music Dissertation, Performance 3, Music and Sound Design for Media, Advanced Recording and Production, Music Education, Pop and the State, and The Philosophy of Music, to focus on their area of interest. This third year allows students to enhance their music performance and technology skills, as well as academic knowledge and communication, and choose between a more academic or practical approach.

The program's modules are developed by staff who actively research, compose, perform, and publish in their specialist areas within the music industry. Students will acquire the necessary analytical and creative skills to evaluate and implement real-life practices in the music industry.
