BA Hons Business Management and Financial Management

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Hull

Program Overview

The University of Hull offers a BA (Hons) Business Management with Financial Management, a 3-year full-time undergraduate course that will give students a thorough understanding of general business and specialist financial skills. The course is designed to prepare students for careers in corporate finance, investment banking, business consultancy, and beyond. It offers academic learning with real-world application to provide students with a wide business education with a financial emphasis.

  • Core modules include strategy, operations, marketing, and entrepreneurship along with specialist subjects like financial reporting, corporate finance, and financial risk management.

  • The school is AACSB-accredited, which places it among the top business schools in the world—a position few UK universities can aspire to.

  • The students are taught by experienced academics and practitioners who use real business case studies and facts to bring theory to life.

  • You’ll graduate with the ability to think critically, solve complex financial problems, and lead in a business context.

Curriculum Structure:

The course blends academic rigor with practical learning, ensuring students gain both knowledge and real-world insight.

  • Year 1 focuses on introducing key business disciplines and building foundational financial knowledge.

  • Year 2 explores more advanced financial management concepts, including budgeting, financial strategy, and analysis.

  • Year 3 involves a consultancy project or dissertation and deepens your expertise with optional modules that enable you to specialize in a career area of your preference.

  • The Bloomberg Trading Suite is an integral component of the course—used throughout the course to simulate live financial markets and prepare students to make investment decisions based on real-time data.

  • The students can also participate in competition and live business challenges, hence further cultivating teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

Hull very much emphasizes giving students a chance to apply their learning into action outside of the classroom.

  • Live Industry Projects: From your very first year, you will be working on real business problems with local and national businesses, assisting you in cultivating hands-on experience and a professional portfolio.

  • The Bloomberg Trading Suite gives you real-world experience in financial markets, allowing you to develop confidence in your high-pressure decision-making skills.

  • Optional placement year: Students can take a year out of industry between years two and three to get full-time work experience. Hull's Centre for Professional Success helps students find placements and internships.

  • Executive Education Suite: This facility mimics corporate boardrooms and senior meeting rooms, enabling students to rehearse presentation and leadership in a realistic setting.

  • Student-led societies and networking events expose you to professionals, alumni, and peers of a similar background.

Progression & Future Opportunities

Leavers of this course carry with them a broad set of skills, deep financial knowledge, and a track record of applying that knowledge in realistic contexts.

  • Career guidance includes one-to-one support, CV and interview preparation, and employer-led sessions provided by Hull's Careers and Employability service.

  • Students attend in-campus recruitment fairs and networking events, where they get to interact with employers from top financial institutions.

  • University career staff have close relationships with businesses across the UK, and many students secure graduate jobs even before final-year completion.

  • They progress to careers in banking, finance, consultancy, and accountancy, with some employed by firms like KPMG, PwC, and Barclays.

  • They also progress to postgraduate study, for instance, MSc Finance, MBA programs, or professional training for professional finance qualifications like ACCA or CIMA.
