Program Overview
This degree combines a solid foundation in business and management with a specialist focus in marketing, ideal for students interested in strategic marketing, brand management, market research, and integrated communications . Over three years, you'll first learn broad management theory before diving into marketing topics in your second and third years, choosing at least 40 credits of marketing-related second‑year options and 60 credits in the final year to graduate with honours in Marketing .


Curriculum structure

Year 1
All students follow a common first-year core covering essential business disciplines, including accounting, finance, economics, management, work psychology, sociology, and quantitative methods . You'll also take an introduction to management and can choose one optional course in economics or finance while building a broad foundation for future marketing specialization .

Year 2
In your second year, you begin to tailor your studies: you must take at least 40 credits of core marketing options—such as modules in market research, brand management or consumer behaviour—and complement these with other choices in operations, employment studies or further management-related subjects. This year helps bridge your general management knowledge with marketing‑specific theory and techniques.

Year 3
Your final year centers on depth: you’ll select at least 60 credits from advanced marketing units (e.g. Marketing Strategy, Retail Marketing, Services Marketing Management) . You then choose additional options across management disciplines to reach 120 credits. Available units include Marketing Strategy (BMAN31302, 20 credits), Services Marketing Management (BMAN31312, 20), Retail Marketing (BMAN31461, 20), or undertake a Consultancy Project (BMAN30180, 40 credits) or Dissertation (BMAN31500, 40) .


Focus areas: Market research, product and brand development, integrated marketing communications, retail and services marketing.

Learning outcomes: You’ll develop strategic marketing and management insight, analytical and quantitative skills, practical project experience, and the ability to apply theory in real-world scenarios through group work, presentations and consultancy-style projects

Professional alignment (accreditation): The course includes selected units that grant exemptions from professional marketing exams and is delivered by Alliance Manchester Business School, one of the UK’s largest and longest-standing business schools, regulated by the Office for Students
