4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program
Our integrated Science, Technology and Engineering (STEM) Foundation Year degrees are aimed at students who wish to study a STEM subject, such as computer science, but don’t have the traditional entry requirements.
The course is run on the University of Leicester campus like any other, and you will be studying alongside other students who applied for, and slightly missed out on, a place on a course similar to yours. In the first year of this course you will all be working towards passing a foundation year (year 0), which will enable automatic progression onto year 1 of any of our BSc (or MComp) Computer Sciences courses.
In the second year, students participate in group projects, working within software development teams to deliver solutions to real clients, thereby gaining valuable industry experience. Additionally, the program offers an optional Year in Industry, providing students with firsthand professional experience and enhancing their employability.
The University of Leicester maintains strong relationships with various industrial partners, facilitating placement opportunities for students. Graduates have secured positions at reputable companies, reflecting the university's commitment to connecting students with potential employers. The curriculum emphasizes both theoretical and applied aspects of computer science, preparing students for diverse career paths in the evolving tech industry. Graduates are also well-prepared for advanced studies, with pathways to postgraduate courses in specialized areas of computer science.
