MEng Computer and Electronic Systems with International Study

5 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Strathclyde

Program Overview

What do 3D TV, digital cameras, smartphones, the iPad and sports instant replay have in common? They're all examples of technology which have been developed combining skills from both computer science and electronic engineering.

These subjects have become increasingly intertwined in recent years, so there's a need for engineers with the ability to create and embed intelligence into the products and systems of the future.

Our course is one of the few UK degrees with triple accreditation from the IET, BCS and Science Council.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

Students in this program have access to the IET Power Academy & Scholarship programme, which includes paid work placements, providing valuable industry experience. The curriculum emphasizes both individual and group projects, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical challenges in areas such as electronics, communications design, hardware engineering systems, image/video processing, and robotics. Additionally, the program offers opportunities for international study during the fourth year, enabling students to gain global perspectives by studying at partner universities in Europe, North America, Canada, Singapore, Japan, Australia, or New Zealand.

Progression & Future Opportunities

Graduates of the MEng Computer and Electronic Systems with International Study program are well-prepared for careers in various sectors, including communications, information technology, electronics, automotive and aerospace industries, finance and banking, power and energy, and project management and engineering consultancy. The program's strong emphasis on both hardware and software equips students with a versatile skill set, enhancing their employability in the rapidly evolving tech industry. Graduates have secured positions with companies such as Amazon, BAE Systems, GE Aviation, Infiniti Red Bull Racing, Siemens, and Thales. The program's triple accreditation by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Engineering Council, and British Computer Society ensures that graduates possess the technical expertise and professional recognition to compete effectively in the job market.
