Swansea UniversityThe BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering with Foundation Year at Swansea University is a four-year, on-campus program designed for students who need further preparation in maths and science before beginning degree-level study. The foundation year offers a multidisciplinary introduction to core engineering subjects, enabling smooth transition into the BEng. You’ll then explore the full aerospace engineering cycle — from concept and design to testing and flight — building analytical and practical skills.
Curriculum structure:
Foundation Year: Modules include Development of Key Skills for Engineers, Introduction to Materials, Basic Engineering Analysis, Chemistry Fundamentals, Engineering Science, Electricity and Magnetism, Mechanics, and Thermofluid Mechanics.
Year 1: You’ll study Design and Laboratory Classes, Introduction to Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mechanics (Aero), and Thermofluids. Includes hands-on lab work and simulator experience with the Merlin MPX521 and JetCat P120 engine.

Year 3: Focus on Engineering Management, Rotorcraft Theory, Gas Dynamics, Propulsion, and an Individual Engineering Project. Includes a flight test course with aircraft performance and data analysis.
