3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Birmingham

Program Overview

The University of Birmingham's BEng Aerospace Engineering is a three-year, full-time undergraduate program aimed at providing a broad foundation in aerospace engineering. The course covers the core engineering disciplines of mechanics, materials, fluid dynamics, and control systems specifically for the aerospace industry. The curriculum provides students with an understanding of the design and operation of aircraft and spacecraft, positioning them for careers in the aerospace field and other related fields. It is accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) and meets the academic criteria for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partially meets the requirements for Chartered Engineer status.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

The curriculum is practical in nature through laboratory work, flight simulation training, and design exercises. The students are made familiar with state-of-the-art facilities like flight simulators to learn and apply theoretical principles in real-life situations. In the final year, students undertake a research project so that they can explore specific areas of interest in aerospace engineering. Industry placement and foreign study options are offered to familiarize them with working environments as well as international awareness.

Progression & Future Opportunities

Graduates of the BEng Aerospace Engineering scheme are well equipped for careers within the aerospace industry, with many going on to join well-respected companies like Rolls-Royce and Airbus.
