Starting in your second year, you can specialize in areas such as:

  • Biomedical Engineering – where you'll work on advancing human health through engineering
  • Medical Devices and Systems – focusing on innovating and enhancing clinical tools
  • Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering – dedicated to developing materials for organ and tissue repair -
  • Biomanufacturing – where you'll learn to produce pharmaceuticals using bio and chemical engineering techniques

Join the Global Engineering Challenge, where you'll tackle real-world issues in developing countries, honing your teamwork and cross-cultural problem-solving skills.

  • Optional placement year available to help enhance your employability. This one-year industry experience can be slotted in between your second and final year, extending your degree to four years.
  • Study abroad option availbale. Go for a year at one of over 250 partner universities around the globe, including locations in Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia.

You'll be supported by a knowledgeable academic team and gain valuable insights from industry professionals through guest lectures.
 

 

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

  • Engineering Foundation: Develop a solid understanding of engineering concepts while learning how to create, develop, and enhance medical devices.
  • Practical Experience: Acquire practical experience and knowledge to use cutting-edge biomedical solutions to truly make an impact.
  • Real-world Projects: Take advantage of possibilities for real-world projects that offer knowledge of cutting-edge technologies.
  • Optional Placement Year: You have the chance to include an optional placement year in your course, turning a three-year program into a four-year Degree with Placement Year.

Progression & Future Opportunities

  • Pursue a career in medical device development, clinical engineering, biomechanics, biomaterials, rehabilitation engineering, or pharmaceutical technology.

  • Opportunities in industries such as healthcare, medical imaging, diagnostics, prosthetics, and wearable health technologies.

  • Further academic study through taught master's degrees (e.g., MSc Biomedical Engineering, MSc Medical Physics), research degrees (MPhil/PhD), or medical school entry for qualified candidates.

  • Potential to register as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with an accredited MEng or appropriate combination of BEng and MSc, enhancing professional standing.
