Curriculum Structure

Year 3 – Stepping into chemical engineering

You’ll also start applying your knowledge in design and modelling exercises, preparing you for more complex projects ahead.

Year 4 – Advanced practice and safety
By your fourth year, you’ll be tackling specialist modules like Process Safety, Process Control, Biochemical Engineering, and Separation Processes 2. You’ll also work on design projects that mirror real industry tasks, pushing you to think critically about efficiency, sustainability, and safe engineering practice.

Year 5 – Bringing it all together
Your final year is about integration and leadership. You’ll study topics such as Offshore Process Engineering, Air and Water Pollution Control, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and Mathematical Optimisation. The highlight is the MEng Group Design Project, where you’ll work as part of a team to design and optimise a large-scale chemical process, using the same tools and approaches that professionals rely on.
