University of Aberdeen is a public research university in Aberdeen, United Kingdom. It is one of the oldest Universities established in the year 1495. The University was founded by William Elphinstone, Bishop of Aberdeen and Chancellor of Scotland. It all initially started with King's College to train doctors, teachers and clergy for the communities of northern Scotland, lawyers and administrators. In 1593, other college was formed in the heart of the New town of Aberdeen by George Keith, fourth Earl Marischal known as the Marischal college. Later on in the year 1860, Kings College and Marischal College were united to form the modern University of Aberdeen. In 1892, the University started admitting female candidates in all its courses. University of Aberdeen has always encouraged more students to get enrolled in its various programs and over the years it has grown to be in the top 20 universities of the United Kingdom.
