Curriculum Structure
Year 1
You’ll begin with foundational modules such as Design Challenge for Engineers, Electrical and Electronic Technology, Engineering Mechanics, Materials & Methods of Manufacture, Mathematical Skills for Engineers, and Thermofluids. These develop core knowledge in circuits, mechanics, design, and applied mathematics, reinforced through collaborative, project-centred learning.
Year 2
The second year covers Control Systems, Data Modelling & Simulation, Digital Systems & Analogue Electronics, Electrical Power & Machines, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Systems, and Physics of Electronic Devices. You’ll also complete an Innovation Project, with the option of a Year in Industry or Study Abroad to deepen professional and practical experience.
Placement or Study Abroad Year (Optional)
Between Years 2 and 3, you can take a sandwich placement year in industry or study abroad, giving you full-year exposure to a professional or global learning environment. Lincoln supports this with partner links and staff guidance—but you'll need to manage your travel, accommodation, and placement search yourself.
Final Year (Year 3)
In your final year, you’ll study advanced modules such as Communication Systems, Industrial Automation, Internet of Things & Smart Electronics, and Programmable Logic Design, alongside a substantial Individual Project. Optional modules include Power Electronics, Robotics & Automation, Signal Processing & System Identification, and Smart Energy Systems, enabling you to specialise in emerging technologies shaping the future.
