Curriculum structure:
Year 1:
You’ll begin with eight core modules, each worth 15 credits (totaling 120): Fundamentals of Digital Systems, Introductory Mathematics for Engineering, Digital, and Physical Sciences, Introductory Programming for Engineering and Physical Sciences, Interdisciplinary Design Project, Foundations of AI and Data Science, Cybersecurity Fundamentals, Internet Applications and Databases, and Power Skills. This foundation supports technical competence, programming, analytics, teamwork, and communication. 

Year 2:
Continuing with eight 15-credit modules (total 120), you’ll study Electronics 1, Robot Control, Data Structures, Algorithms and OOP, Electronic Engineering Team Project, Ethics, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Sustainability, Embedded Systems and C, Digital Design, and Introduction to Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. This year deepens hardware-software integration, robotics, ethical engineering, and systems thinking. 

Year 3:
Your third year centers around professional development and real-world engineering exposure. Core modules include Professional Engineering Practice, Engineering Project Management, Sustainability in Science and Technology, Leadership in Engineering, and Engineering in Practice (a comprehensive 60-credit module). This year enables you to gain systematic and in-depth knowledge in a specialty area, apply research and problem-solving techniques to real-world challenges, use investigative approaches under real constraints, understand commercial and project team dynamics, and build professional communication and personal development planning skills.

Final Year:
In your final year, you complete 60 credits through core modules (Aston Global Advantage, Final Year Project worth 45 credits) and four optional modules (two from each group). Options include Digital Systems Design, Digital Systems Hardware, Internet of Things, Digital Signal Processing, Reliability in Software Engineering, Information Security and Assurance, and Robotics and Autonomous Systems. This structure supports specialization and independent project-based research.
