Program Overview

Mechanical engineering focuses on the innovative and inventive application of engineering concepts and scientific knowledge to influence our environment, by creating new materials, technologies, processes, and products. Mechanical engineers create and improve all things that move or contain moving components, including spacecraft and airplanes, racing vehicles, household items such as refrigerators, and the tiny motors that rotate a CD in a CD player. Their work encompasses robotic control of machines, nanotechnologies, mechanical hearts, artificial limbs, fitness equipment, as well as technologies for oil and gas exploration and production, and wind turbines. 

Our society depends on Electrical Engineers for a wide range of tasks, including low power electrical devices, control systems, and high voltage electricity generation and distribution networks. Electrical Engineering lies at the heart of today's world, encompassing computers, digital circuits, photonics, and a multitude of electronic gadgets. 

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

The BEng Engineering (Mechanical and Electrical) program at the University of Aberdeen provides a thorough experiential learning framework that merges theoretical understanding with hands-on engineering expertise.

Collaboration with Industry: The School of Engineering works with industry partners to provide summer internships and hands-on learning experiences. These experiences assist students in cultivating commercial awareness and getting ready for engineering careers. ​
