Mechanical engineers are at the cutting edge of significant technological challenges we encounter today, including delivering sustainable energy and smart transportation systems, creating medical devices, and developing machines and systems to boost food production or explore the vastness of space. 

You will explore subjects like fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials science while learning to utilize advanced computer-aided engineering methods and tools to equip you for a career in production, process, or manufacturing engineering. 

Our instruction is backed by top-notch facilities, featuring laboratories specialized in specific fields like satellite communications, computer-aided design, electrical machines, materials testing, laser welding, hydraulics and fluids, large structures, and geotechnics. 

At Aberdeen, our integrated method allows you to learn the basics of each engineering field in the first two years, followed by a focus on mechanical engineering in your third year. This comprehensive strategy allows you to maintain flexibility while acquiring diverse perspectives and skills—attributes that distinguish Aberdeen graduates and enhance your ability to collaborate, innovate, and lead in your career. 

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

The MEng Mechanical Engineering course at the University of Aberdeen provides an extensive experiential learning structure that combines theoretical understanding with hands-on engineering abilities.
