Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

The BEng Mechanical Engineering (Automotive) program at the University of Birmingham offers a range of experiential learning opportunities including hands-on design and build projects such as UBRacing and Brum Eco Racing, participation in industry-relevant student-led teams like UBRobotics, optional industrial placements for a full year with support from the university’s Industrial Liaison Tutor, engagement in cutting-edge research with partners like BYD Automotive and Rolls-Royce, and access to short-term internships through the B-Experienced Internship Programme.

 

Progression & Future Opportunities

Graduates of the BEng in Mechanical Engineering (Automotive) at the University of Birmingham can progress to roles such as automotive design engineer, test engineer, R&D specialist, or manufacturing engineer in companies like Jaguar Land Rover, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, and BMW.
