The BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering at the University of Dundee is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems and their applications in modern technology.
Year 1: Students build a solid foundation in mechanics, computer-aided design (CAD), materials science, engineering analysis, and mathematics.
Year 2: The programme progresses to cover thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, control systems, and dynamics to enable students to specialise in more technical subjects.
Year 3: Students undertake a minimum 30-week industrial placement, gaining practical experience and professional skills in a real-world engineering environment.

During the program, students work with industry standard software and packages such as MATLAB, SolidWorks, and ANSYS to analyze and model engineering systems.
The programme is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) to satisfy the academic requirements for the award of Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status.
