University of Dundee History
University of Dundee is a public research university in Dundee, in the east central Lowlands of Scotland. The University initially started as Dundee college of the University of St. Andrews. 1966, St Andrews University Court and the Council of Queen's College submitted a joint petition to the Privy Council seeking the grant of a Royal Charter to establish the University of Dundee. The University of Dundee came into existence on 1 August 1967 by the virtue of a Royal Charter. In October 2005, the University of Dundee became home to the first UNESCO centre in the United Kingdom.
