Program Overview

Both subjects at Manchester give students a) a firm grounding in their chosen languages and b) the chance to explore in depth the culture, linguistics, film, art, history and literature of the countries and communities in which those languages are spoken. Throughout the course students are trained in the relevant modern spoken and written languages, by following a high-level core language course. From Year One, students discover how the languages really work by learning about their morphology, syntax, phonology and phonetics.
