Program Overview

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) offers a BA (Hons) International Tourism Management course that educates students in-depth about international tourism, hospitality, and travel businesses. The course trains the students to gain the information and practical expertise necessary to succeed in any of the tourism-related careers, from hotel and resort management professions to travel consultancy and event management careers.

Year 1: Student focus is on developing a sound base of tourism principles, including modules in international tourism trends, marketing, customer service, and sustainable tourism practices. Professional communication, teamworking, and analytical skills are focused on.

Year 2: International tourism management continues to be tackled by the course, including hospitality management, event planning, digital tourism, and tourism policy. The students also gain practical knowledge through projects and industry case studies, enabling them to put theoretical concepts into practice.

Year 3: Specialization in topics of interest in tourism management. The third year includes a dissertation or independent research project that provides the chance to develop critical thinking, research skills, and specialization in a focused tourism-specific problem. Advanced modules on worldwide tourism issues and strategic management are also included in this year, providing graduates with the preparation necessary for management roles within the industry.
