University of Central Lancashire History

The University of Central Lancashire also known as UCLan is a British higher education establishment located in the city of Preston, Lancashire. Also, it is among the Best Universities in the World  It was established in 1828 as The Institution For The Diffusion Of Useful Knowledge and was subsequently renamed Harris Art College, Preston Polytechnic, and Lancashire Polytechnic and finally adopted its present name in 1992. It currently enrols over 23000 graduate and undergraduate students.

Its Medical Center located in the Foster Building in Preston campus offers medical facilities to all the students. Students can register with the doctor and apply for the NHS Card once they arrive at the university. The Medical Center is open from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 6 PM although students can also avail of services during weekends by calling +44 1772 214800.

It is home to several clubs and associations, part of its vibrant student union. The clubs include Entrepreneurship Club, Debating Club, Media Club, Sports club, Airsoft Club, Music Club, and various clubs based on religion, ethnic origin, or nationality. Students are also free to start their own club if they wish.
