Digital Media and Communications BA Honours

This digital media and communication course is tailored to cater to the dynamic and evolving creative industries by blending theoretical and practical knowledge. The course covers topics like new media, website design, video production, and culture, among others. Practical projects include video production (in compliance with Government safety regulations), web design, HTML programming, smart environments, and data visualization. The course places a significant emphasis on social media platform management and analysis, utilizing APIs and other sources to present and assess social data.

The course is delivered by experienced technical tutors who possess a thorough understanding of the industry. You will complete a series of modules, including the mandatory Digital Media Practice module, which focuses on production methods such as video, sound recording and mixing, and advanced post-production. You will create a creative and adaptable piece of work that puts theory into practice at the end of this module.

The course is divided into four 30-credit modules per year. Year One introduces students to Digital Media with four mandatory modules - two theoretical and two practical. In Year Two, students can choose one optional module alongside three compulsory modules, with one optional module providing an opportunity for an industry placement. In Year Three, you will undertake an individual project and dissertation alongside two additional compulsory modules, with the fourth being an optional module.
