Lincoln Medical School, established in 2018 as a partnership between the Universities of Nottingham and Lincoln, offers the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) degree. The program is delivered at the University of Lincoln's Brayford Pool Campus, featuring the purpose-built Ross Lucas Medical Sciences Building, which includes lecture theatres, laboratories, a clinical skills suite, an anatomy suite, and a health sciences library.
Program Structure:

Clinical Placement Hospitals
Students undertake clinical placements across a variety of NHS hospitals and community healthcare providers in Lincolnshire, including:
Lincoln County Hospital (Lincoln)
A key teaching hospital providing a comprehensive range of acute and specialist medical services.
Pilgrim Hospital (Boston)
Offers emergency care, general and specialist surgery, and medicine, making it a central site for clinical placements.
Grantham and District Hospital (Grantham)
A district general hospital providing valuable experience in community-focused care and outpatient services.
In addition to hospital rotations, students gain experience through general practice placements and community health centers across the region, offering exposure to both urban and rural healthcare delivery.
Intercalated BMedSci Degree:
An integral part of the course is the Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMedSci), which includes a research project and provides an opportunity for deeper academic exploration in a chosen medical science area.
Medical graduates in the UK follow a structured career progression pathway after completing their MBBS or equivalent degree. Upon graduation, they enter the Foundation Programme, a two-year paid training period (FY1 and FY2) where they rotate through various specialties to gain broad clinical experience. Successful completion of this leads to full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
After Foundation Training, doctors choose a specialty and apply for Core or Specialty Training. Core Training typically lasts 2–3 years and is followed by higher Specialty Training, while some fields (like General Practice or Surgery) offer run-through training from the start. Specialty training durations vary—General Practice takes around 3 years, while hospital specialties can take 5–8+ years, depending on the discipline. After completing training, doctors become Consultants in hospital specialties or General Practitioners (GPs).
In terms of further study, many graduates pursue postgraduate qualifications to enhance their expertise or academic profile. Options include:
Master’s degrees (e.g., MSc in Public Health, Medical Education, Clinical Research, or Global Health)
PhDs or MD(Res) for careers in academia or research
Diplomas and Certificates in fields like Tropical Medicine, Radiology, or Dermatology
Intercalated BSc or MBPhD programmes (during or after undergraduate studies for research-focused pathways)

A levels - AAA; including biology (or human biology) and chemistry (a pass is required in science practical tests, where assessed separately). The third A can be in any subject except citizenship studies, critical thinking, general studies and global perspectives.
