Program Overview

Curriculum Structure

Year 1:
In your first year, you’ll be introduced to three core themes: Universal Care for all Women and Newborn Infants, the Professional Midwife, and Additional Care for Women and Newborn Infants with Complications. You’ll also learn introductory clinical midwifery skills in simulated environments and real maternity care settings, with modules such as “Universal Care,” “Professional Midwife,” and “Additional Care.” Teaching blends theory, clinical skills, and practical experience to build a strong foundation.

Year 2:

Your second year builds on your knowledge and experience, exploring the role of the midwife in partnership with women and families from diverse backgrounds. You’ll deepen your understanding of effective midwifery practice within maternity care teams, with modules like “Professional Midwife 2,” “Universal Care 2,” and “Additional Care 2.” You’ll continue placements, gaining hands-on experience in a variety of clinical settings.

Year 3:

In your final year, you’ll consolidate your knowledge, skills, and attitudes to confidently engage in midwifery care. You’ll provide skilled, knowledgeable, respectful, and compassionate care for all women, newborn infants, and their families, meeting the professional outcomes set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Modules include “Professional Midwife 3,” “Universal Care 3,” and “Additional Care 3,” preparing you for registration as a midwife.

Additional Information & Requirements

SQA Higher: BBB/BBCC to include English and a Science subject. Biology, Human Biology or Psychology is recommended. Maths is required at National 5 grade C or above if not held at Higher.
GCE A Level: BCC to include English and a science subject. Biology, Human Biology or Psychology is recommended. Maths is required at GCSE grade 5/C or above if not held at A Level.
IB Diploma: 27 points to include Higher Level English and a science subject (Biology recommended); Maths required at Standard Level if not held at Higher.
English Language Requirements: Academic IELTS overall score of 7.0, with a minimum of 7.0 in all elements except writing (minimum 6.5); TOEFL iBT minimum overall score of 80, with no sub-score below 17 in any section.
Indian Boards Requirement (CBSE / ISC / State Boards):We require 60% overall in year 12 state board high school examinations
American Curriculum Requirement: High School Graduation Diploma with GPA of 2.8 or above on a 4 scale plus one of the following: A SAT score of 1000/1600 with a minimum of 500 in each component; OR ACT (American College Test) score with 24 or higher 3 related Advanced Placements (APs) tests with grade 4 or higher TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion) and HiSET |(High School Equivalency Test) and GED (General Education Development Test) can be considered as equiv to High School diploma with 2.8/4 GPA
