Curriculum Structure

  • Year 1: You’ll begin with Fundamentals of Mental Health Nursing Practice, where you learn the basics of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology, as well as public and community health. You’ll also develop your communication, ethical, and legal skills — essential foundations for person-centred care.

  • Year 2: Developing Mental Health Nursing Practice builds your knowledge and experience, allowing you to care for patients with a variety of mental health conditions in hospitals, community settings, and home visits. You’ll practice specialist nursing skills and integrate physical health care, seeing firsthand how mental and physical wellbeing are connected.

  • Year 3: In Consolidating Mental Health Nursing Practice, you’ll refine your clinical decision-making, leadership, and patient care skills. You’ll manage complex cases, coordinate care, and apply research and evidence-based approaches, preparing you to graduate as a confident, competent mental health nurse.
