Curriculum Structure
Foundation Year
The foundation year helps you get ready for degree-level study. You’ll explore subjects like basic anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, health and wellbeing, and the essentials of professional healthcare practice. This year gives you the knowledge and confidence you need to move into the full Adult Nursing degree.
Year 1
In your first year of the degree, you’ll start learning what it means to be a professional nurse. Modules such as Becoming a Professional Practitioner, Evidence: Your Profession in a Global Context, Nursing Assessment and Care Delivery, and Understanding Influences on Health and Care introduce you to core nursing theory, practical assessment skills, and how social and environmental factors affect patients. You’ll also begin your first placements (Placement 1: Introduction to Nursing Care and Placement 2: Delivering Nursing Care) to get hands-on experience in real care settings under supervision.
Year 2
Year two takes your skills further. With modules like Therapeutic Interventions in Adult Nursing and Complex Decision-Making within Adult Nursing Environments, you’ll learn to handle more advanced care tasks and make critical decisions confidently. Enhanced Approaches in Delivering Holistic Care teaches you to provide patient-centered care that considers physical, emotional, and social needs. You’ll also complete Placement 3: Delivering Enhanced Nursing Care and Placement 4: Delivering Complex Holistic Nursing Care, gaining more hands-on experience across a variety of healthcare settings.
Year 3
The final year prepares you to step confidently into your professional career. Complex Care Coordination in Adult Nursing helps you manage comprehensive care plans, while Leading for the Future as a Health and Care Professional develops your leadership and decision-making skills. Through The Evidence-based Practitioner: Professional Project and Preparing for your Career in Nursing, you’ll consolidate your knowledge, reflect on your learning, and prepare for independent practice. Final placements (Placement 5: Coordinating Nursing Care and Placement 6: Practising Autonomously) give you the last stretch of real-world experience to graduate ready to work confidently in any adult nursing setting.
