Curriculum Structure
Year 1: Foundation in Nursing
The first year lays the groundwork for your nursing journey. Modules like Practice Module 1: Becoming a Safe, Caring Professional teach essential skills such as patient safety, emotional intelligence, and teamwork, while Perspectives of Complex Care in Children and Young People's Nursing explores caring for children with additional needs, helping you think critically about the role of a children’s nurse in different settings.
Year 2: Advancing Nursing Skills
In your second year, you’ll deepen your clinical knowledge and practical abilities. Nursing Skills 6: Advancing Nursing Skills develops competencies in medicines management, assessment, and communication, while Theory 5: Transition to Accountable Practitioner in Children's Nursing encourages independent thinking, preparing you to take responsibility for your practice.
Year 3: Leadership and Professional Development
The final year focuses on leadership, quality improvement, and professional growth. Practice Module 3: Leadership, Quality and Team Work combines online learning and face-to-face seminars, giving you the chance to apply leadership skills in real clinical settings and preparing you to confidently step into professional roles as a registered children’s nurse.
