4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program
This four-year programme, including a Foundation Year, is designed for anyone who wants to make a real difference in mental health care. You’ll learn how to support people living with mental health challenges, helping them recover, stay well, and thrive within their communities, while also building the knowledge and confidence you need for a successful nursing career.
Curriculum structure:
Foundation Year (Year 0):
Your first year gives you the chance to build the skills and confidence needed for degree-level study. You’ll explore modules like Developing the Fundamentals of a Healthcare Professional and Promotion of Contemporary Issues in Healthcare, learning the basics of health sciences, academic skills, and the wider context of health and social care.
Year 1 (Level 4):
This is where you start your degree proper. Modules like Personal and Professional Development, Sciences for Nursing Practice, and Part 1 Placement help you combine theory with practice. You’ll begin applying your knowledge in real-world settings, learning about anatomy, psychology, and early professional skills.
Year 2 (Level 5):
Your second year takes your learning to a deeper level. Through modules such as Fundamentals of Nursing Practice, Collaboration for Individual and Community Wellbeing, and Evidence and Enquiry for Practice, along with your Part 2 Placement, you’ll gain hands-on experience in mental health settings, develop research skills, and work alongside other healthcare professionals.
Final Year (Level 6):
In your final year, you’ll focus on leadership, clinical decision-making, and preparing to become a registered mental health nurse. Modules like Complexity & Leadership in Professional Practice, Consolidating Sciences for Nursing Practice, and Transition to Registration in Mental Health Nursing Practice bring together your practical and theoretical learning, readying you for your first professional role.
Focus areas:
“mental health nursing, recovery-focused care, inter-professional collaboration, leadership, community and acute settings, person-centred care.”
