The program combines scientific knowledge with practical experience, preparing you to improve athletic performance, promote wellbeing, and pursue a variety of careers in sport and health.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1: Building Foundations
Your first year introduces you to the fundamentals of sport, health, and nutrition. Modules like Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology help you understand how the body works, Psychology of Health and Wellbeing explores the mental and emotional benefits of exercise, and Current Topics in Sport gives you a broad view of the sport and health sector. You’ll gain practical experience alongside theory, setting the stage for more advanced study.

Year 2: Developing Skills and Knowledge
In your second year, you’ll dive deeper into specialized areas. Applied Sport and Exercise Physiology teaches how exercise impacts the body, Practical Applications in Sport Psychology explores mental factors in performance, and Sociology of Sport, Health and the Body examines how society affects health and fitness. This year focuses on applying your knowledge through practical tasks, research exercises, and teamwork projects.

Year 3: Optional Placement Year
You can take a placement year to gain real-world experience. Many students work with sports teams, health organizations, or fitness centers to apply their skills in professional settings, develop industry connections, and boost employability before returning to complete their final year.

Year 4: Specialization and Research
Your final year is all about refining your expertise and conducting independent research. Modules such as Sport Project & Dissertation allow you to investigate a topic that interests you, Advanced Coaching Practice develops your coaching and training abilities, and Environmental Sports Physiology examines performance in different conditions.
