You’ll develop practical skills in prescribing, medicines design, and patient care using specialist labs, digital tools, and interprofessional learning spaces. Every year includes hands-on experience, and the university’s facilities are designed to mirror real-world pharmacy environments.

Here’s how experiential learning is built into the program:

  • Simulated clinical teaching spaces: You’ll practise prescribing and consultation skills in mock dispensaries and clinical simulation suites, working with real patients through the Patients as Educators programme.
  • Social Accountability Project: In Year 1, you’ll complete a 14-day placement with a local charity, applying pharmacy knowledge in a community health context.
  • Clinical placements: Across all four years, you’ll undertake hospital, community, and GP-based placements, including two three-week blocks in Year 2 and a four-week placement in Year 3.
  • Interprofessional learning: You’ll collaborate with students from medicine, nursing, and midwifery in shared clinical scenarios, building teamwork and communication skills.
  • Specialist laboratories: You’ll use formulation labs and pharmaceutical science facilities to design and test medicines, supported by expert staff.
  • Digital tools and prescribing software: You’ll train with clinical decision-making platforms and e-prescribing systems as part of the Advanced Pharmaceutical Practice module in Year 4.
  • Libraries and learning spaces: You’ll access the Health Sciences Library, clinical skills centres, and dedicated pharmacy study zones across campus.
