Curriculum Structure
Year 1
You’ll begin with four foundational modules: Role of the Pharmacist in Health Care, Chemistry of Medicines, Body Systems and Therapeutics 1, and Making Safe and Effective Medicines. These introduce the scientific basis of pharmacy, drug formulation, and the pharmacist’s role in healthcare. You’ll also complete Clinical, Professional and Scientific Skills 1, which includes competency-based assessments.
Year 2
This year focuses on integrated science and practice through two 60-credit modules: Clinical Therapeutics and the Scientific Basis of Practice A (Cardiovascular, Renal and Endocrine Systems) and B (Central Nervous System, Gastrointestinal System, Liver and Skin). You’ll continue developing clinical and professional skills through placements and workshops.
Year 3
You’ll study Clinical Therapeutics and the Scientific Basis of Practice C (Immunology, Inflammation and Infectious Diseases) and D (Cancer, Advanced Formulation and Therapeutics). These modules deepen your understanding of complex diseases and advanced drug delivery systems. Clinical placements and patient-facing activities intensify.
Year 4
The final year includes a 60-credit Individual Research Project, which you can complete in UCL’s labs or with a partner institution, including international options via PharmAlliance. You’ll also take a clinical pharmacy-focused module preparing you for independent prescribing and professional practice.
