BSc Mathematical Economics and Statistics

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Birmingham

Program Overview

This programme emphasises developments in modern economic and social theory and takes account of the growth of mathematical and statistical tools in the analysis of economic and social problems. Many economic concepts are quantifiable. So it s natural to construct models in terms of well-defined relationships between such variables, and to analyse the properties of these models by mathematical and statistical methods. Such analysis can throw much light on the realism of a model, but the adequacy of a model in describing phenomena can be tested more precisely by the explicit statistical measurement (with observed data) of the relationships implied by the model.
