Program Overview

Warwick’s PPE program offers a rigorous, interdisciplinary education that delves into the foundational elements of society, governance, and economic systems. Students engage with critical issues such as climate change, global justice, and economic inequality, gaining analytical and quantitative skills essential for diverse career paths.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1: Establishes foundational knowledge across all three disciplines.

  • Philosophy: Introduction to Philosophy
  • Politics: Introduction to Politics
  • Economics: Economics 1
  • Quantitative Techniques: Mathematical and Statistical Techniques at intermediate or advanced levels
  • Optional Modules: Selections from PPE departments or other faculties

Year 2: Students select a pathway—Tripartite (all three disciplines) or Bipartite (focus on two).

  • Philosophy: History of Modern Philosophy, Ethics, Applied Ethics
  • Politics: Foundations of Political Theory, Topics in Political Theory
  • Economics: Economics 2, Applied Econometrics, Econometrics 1
  • Interdisciplinary Module: PPE: Interdisciplinary Topics
  • Optional Modules: A Wide range from PPE and other departments
     

Final Year: Emphasis on interdisciplinary integration and specialization.

  • Interdisciplinary Modules: Choose at least two from PPE: Economics & Politics, PPE: Economics & Philosophy, PPE: Philosophy & Politics
  • Optional Modules: Extensive selection across departments; option to undertake a dissertation or research project
