LLB Law with Politics

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Leicester

Program Overview

The LLB Law with Politics at the University of Leicester is ideal for students who want to understand how legal systems operate alongside the political forces that shape them. You’ll study core areas of English law while exploring how governments, institutions, and policy decisions influence everyday life.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1

In your first year, you build a strong foundation in legal thinking while gaining a clear understanding of how political systems function. You’ll study modules such as Legal Foundations, Constitutional and Administrative Law, and Politics, Power and Ethics, which help you understand how laws are created, interpreted, and applied in a political context. This year is all about developing confidence in legal reasoning and an awareness of the political landscape that drives public decision-making.

Year 2

Year two deepens your knowledge of both disciplines. You’ll explore essential legal subjects such as Law of Tort and Criminal Law, while also taking political modules like Comparative European Politics or Themes and Issues in British Politics. This combination lets you analyse how political behaviour, institutions, and governance influence legal outcomes and public policy. You begin applying theory to real events, debates, and case studies.

Year 3

Your final year gives you the freedom to specialise in areas you care about most. You can choose advanced law modules like Family Law, Immigration Law or Company Law, alongside politics options such as Global Justice and Human Rights or Politics of the European Union. This year encourages you to think critically, engage in independent research, and shape your academic pathway toward your career goals.
