Program Overview

The LLB (Hons) Law at Bath Spa is designed to equip you with essential skills for the practice elements of the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), while also developing your legal knowledge, research abilities, and professional expertise.

This forward-thinking, qualifying Law degree aligns with the latest regulatory standards for solicitor and barrister training, meeting the Bar Standards Board’s requirements.

You'll gain a comprehensive understanding of legal systems and criminal law, with opportunities to explore areas like international law, media and entertainment law, and cybercrime. In your final year, you can refine your practical skills through The Bath Law Clinic—established in partnership with Bath Spa University, Stone King LLP, and the Citizens Advice Bureau—or undertake an independent law research project.

The course prepares you for legal practice and provides insight into the business of law, ensuring you're ready for the professional world upon graduation. Recognising that many law graduates pursue careers beyond traditional legal roles, the course incorporates career planning at every stage, highlighting opportunities in governance, risk management, advocacy, public policy, HR, and finance.

1. Bath Law Clinic

In collaboration with Stone King LLP and the Citizens Advice Bureau, the Bath Law Clinic provides students with the opportunity to offer legal advice to real clients under supervision. 2. Professional Placement Year

Students have the option to undertake a ten-month professional placement between their second and third years. This placement allows students to gain practical experience in a legal or related professional setting, enhancing their employability upon graduation. ​Bath Spa University

3. Clinical Legal Education

The Clinical Legal Education initiative involves students engaging in real-world legal activities, such as participating in student advice clinics and justice initiatives. 4. Work Placements

Throughout the program, students are encouraged to complete short work placements during their second year. These placements provide practical insights into the legal profession and help students build professional networks. ​Bath Spa University

5. Interdisciplinary Modules
