LLB Law with Politics

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Manchester

Program Overview

The LLB Law with Politics at The University of Manchester is the ideal choice if you’re passionate about law but also want to understand how political systems shape the world we live in. You’ll gain a solid legal foundation while exploring how politics, policy, and societal influences shape justice, governance, and society.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1

Your first year builds the groundwork in both law and politics. You’ll develop essential legal skills through Introduction to Law and Legal Skills, study the principles of Public Law, and dive into Law of Obligations, which explores contracts and responsibilities. Alongside this, you’ll explore politics through courses like Contemporary Issues in Law and Politics, and choose between Comparative Politics or Political Theory to understand how governments and ideas shape decision-making.

Year 2

In your second year, you move beyond the basics to deepen your understanding of more advanced areas of law and politics. You’ll typically engage with modules that examine criminal law, land law, and wider political debates, allowing you to link legal reasoning with real-world governance. This year encourages you to think critically about how legal and political frameworks interact, preparing you for both professional training and independent research.

Year 3

By your final year, you’ll have the freedom to tailor your studies to your interests. You can choose from a wide range of specialist law modules and combine them with politics options such as international relations, political philosophy, or global justice. Many students also choose to undertake a dissertation, giving you the chance to carry out in-depth research on a topic you care about and showcase your ability to argue and analyse like a professional.
