Program Overview

The LLB Law and Legislative Studies at Hull blends a traditional legal education with a deep dive into legislation, policy-making, and regulatory frameworks. Curriculum Structure

Year 1
In your first year, you’ll establish a strong foundation in legal systems and principles, studying modules such as English Legal System & Method, Contract Law, and Criminal Law. You’ll also explore Legislative Contexts to understand how legislation is drafted, debated, and implemented, helping you see the bigger picture of law-making.

Year 2
Your second year focuses on more advanced legal themes — for example, Public Law & Constitutional Principles, Tort Law, and Statutory Interpretation. Alongside, you will explore modules specifically designed to examine policy-making and the legislative process, giving you insight into how laws are formed and changed in government.

Year 3
During the third year, you'll dive into subjects like Equity & Trusts and European Union & Comparative Law. You'll also study Regulation & Policy, focusing on how regulation works in practice, plus you’ll explore real-world implications of legislative change.

Year 4
In the final year, you’ll engage in in-depth specialist modules such as Legislative Policy Analysis, Commercial Legislation, or Human Rights Legislation. You will also complete a dissertation or major research project investigating a legislative or legal-policy topic that interests you, applying both your legal and policy knowledge.
