LLB Law

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Essex

Program Overview

At Essex, we teach law with a fresh and dynamic approach, making legal education more relevant and adaptable to societal changes. Our LLB Law program provides a comprehensive academic foundation, encouraging students to see legal subjects as interconnected. With a global perspective, we emphasize justice and real-world applications, ensuring students understand English and Welsh law within European and international frameworks.

Beyond learning legal rules, students explore law’s role in society, legal philosophy, policy implications, and law reform. Critical thinking and evaluating diverse viewpoints are central to our teaching. Key legal areas are covered, along with optional topics such as copyright law, international environmental law, and human rights. We rank 12th in the UK for advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goal of reducing inequalities (THE Impact Rankings 2024).

Our faculty works with the UN, UK government, and international organizations. Practical experience is prioritized through the Essex Law Clinic, human rights projects, mooting competitions, and client interview exercises. Students can study abroad for a term or year, gaining cultural exposure and enhancing employability. Those opting for a placement year receive career support while applying their knowledge in real-world settings.

Graduates leave Essex with a broad skill set, preparing them for careers in law, business, government, and beyond. Career management modules, networking events, and an annual law fair equip students for success. Our student-run societies, peer mentoring, and industry connections ensure a well-rounded, career-focused legal education that fosters ambition and social impac
