You’ll gain strong scientific knowledge while building the skills to think like an innovator—plus enjoy a placement year where you can put your ideas into action in real-world settings.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1
Start by exploring the foundations of life sciences with modules in biochemistry, genetics, and molecular biology. Alongside this, you’ll be introduced to enterprise, markets, and finance through entrepreneurship units delivered by the Masood Enterprise Centre. You’ll also develop core lab and data-handling skills and even draft your first business proposal.

Year 2
This year takes you deeper into science with research-focused modules such as Science Communication and Research Skills. On the business side, you’ll have the chance to shape your direction with options in Enterprise Strategy, Marketing, or Interdisciplinary Sustainable Development.

Year 3 (Placement Year)
Your placement year is where everything comes together. You’ll apply your bioscience knowledge and entrepreneurial mindset in a year-long work placement—this could be with a biotech startup, research enterprise, or even in areas like marketing. Placements are available in the UK or overseas.

Year 4 (Final Year)
In your final year, you’ll study advanced topics at the forefront of bioscience research while leading your own independent research or enterprise project. This could take many forms: lab research, data analysis, digital learning projects, or even developing a full business feasibility study.
