Psychology with Neuroscience BSc Honours

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Middlesex University London

Program Overview

The BSc (Hons) Psychology with Neuroscience at Middlesex University combines modern psychological principles with cutting-edge neuroscience techniques such as EEG, eye-tracking, biofeedback, VR and psychophysiology. Ideal for students keen to explore the brain–behaviour interface in depth, it prepares you for careers in clinical psychology, cognitive neuroscience, research, health communication, and further study via British Psychological Society (BPS) chartership.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1

In your first year, you'll build fundamentals in psychology, neuroscience methods, and research practice. Modules focus on psychological theory, experimental design, data analysis and lab-based skills using EEG, BioPac and eye-tracking tools. You’ll also develop communication and critical thinking skills in psychology-specific research contexts.

Year 2

Your second year deepens both psychological and neuroscientific understanding. You’ll engage with advanced modules covering neurocognitive processes, experimental psychology, cognition and behaviour, alongside neuroscience research techniques. Practical sessions in EEG, VR and electrophysiology labs support your analytical and experimental development.

Year 3

In your final year, you'll complete an independent dissertation project using real neuroscience or psychology methods under expert supervision. You also choose optional modules in areas like neuropsychology, brain disorders, cognitive neuroscience, forensic applications, or mental health—tailoring your degree to your interests and career goals.

Focus areas: brain‑behaviour mechanisms, cognitive neuroscience methods (EEG, VR, psychophysiology), developmental & clinical psychology, data analysis and experimental research practices, psychology–neuroscience integration, elective neuroscientific themes.

Learning outcomes: Develop strong competence in designing and conducting psychology and neuroscience experiments; analyze behavioural and physiological data; critically evaluate scientific literature; undertake an independent dissertation; and effectively communicate findings to diverse audiences.

Professional alignment (accreditation): Accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), providing eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) upon graduation—an essential milestone toward a professional psychology career.

Reputation (employability rankings): Middlesex University achieved a Silver rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (2023). Students learn in top-tier neuroscience facilities, including EEG suites, eye-tracking, TMS, VR labs, and social observation suites. Placement opportunities with organisations such as Great Ormond Street Hospital, Metropolitan Police, UCL and St George’s Hospital strengthen industry links.
