The BSc Economics course at the School of Economics is designed to develop advanced quantitative and analytical skills, with a particular focus on mathematical and statistical methods applied to economic analysis and policy. The program provides flexibility, allowing students to specialize in either the methodological pathway (focused on theory, mathematics, and statistics) or the applied pathway (emphasizing practical applications in economics).

In the first year, students undertake core modules that introduce the fundamental principles of economics and develop essential mathematical and data analysis skills. These modules include Introduction to Microeconomics, Introduction to Macroeconomics, Mathematical Methods for Economics, and Economic Data Analysis.

The second year builds on these foundations with Intermediate Microeconomics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, and Econometrics as core modules. Students also begin to tailor their learning through optional modules, which may include Development Economics, Public Economics, and Labour Economics.

In the third year, students complete a core Dissertation in Economics, conducting independent research on a topic of their choice under academic supervision. They also choose from a range of advanced optional modules such as International Trade, Monetary Economics, Environmental Economics, and Industrial Organization. The selection of modules may vary depending on availability each academic year.
