4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program
If you're interested in business and marketing but also want to understand how politics and the economy shape the world, this course gives you a bit of everything. You’ll learn how businesses make decisions, how governments influence markets, and how marketing connects brands to people — all in one flexible degree
Curriculum Structure (Year-by-Year Breakdown)
Year 1:
You start by learning the basics of how economies work through modules like The Making of the Modern Economy. At the same time, you get introduced to marketing principles and study Politics and Public Policy, which helps you understand how governments shape business environments.
Year 2:
This year dives deeper. You’ll study Global Economic Perspectives and explore how marketing works across different media and customer segments. In politics, you begin tackling bigger questions, like nationalism, democracy or human rights, and how they influence global markets and businesses.
Year 3:
You begin to specialise according to your interests. Whether it’s Marketing Strategy & Analysis, Public Policy, or Middle Eastern Politics, you get to choose modules that align with your future career. You’ll also work on group projects and real-world business or political case studies.
Year 4 (Honours Year):
This is where everything comes together. You choose advanced modules and complete a dissertation or research project in business, marketing or politics — for example, analysing political impacts on branding, or how economic crises affect consumer behaviour.
Focus areas:
“Business Economics • Marketing Strategy • Political Systems • Public Policy • Global Markets”
Learning outcomes:
“Graduates understand how markets, governments and consumers interact, and can analyse data, design marketing strategies and evaluate political and economic decisions from a business perspective.”
Professional alignment (Accreditation):
The programme is delivered by Dundee’s AACSB-accredited School of Business — a recognition held by fewer than 6% of business schools worldwide.
Reputation & Employability:
Dundee ranks Joint 2nd in Scotland for Graduate Prospects (Guardian University Guide 2025), meaning students from this School are among the most likely to secure good jobs or further study after graduation.
This course isn’t just theory — you’ll constantly be applying what you study to real businesses, political issues, and marketing challenges. From day one, you’ll work in small groups, run simulations, analyse real data, and even take on projects for real clients. Dundee’s School of Business is AACSB-accredited, so everything you do is designed to match global industry standards.
To make learning more practical and career-focused, the course gives you hands-on experiences, such as:
Real-World Learning Highlights:
Industry guest speakers — Professionals from marketing agencies, businesses, and political organisations regularly come to speak to students about real career paths and current industry challenges.
Marketing Research Project (final years) — You’ll work as part of a small consultancy-style team to carry out real marketing research for a client, collect data, and present your findings professionally.
Political simulations & advocacy work — Some politics modules involve role-play of EU decision-making or working with human rights advocacy groups to understand how campaigning and policy influence actually work.
Workshops, seminars, and data sessions — Instead of only lectures, you’ll join workshops where you use business and economic data, practice market analysis, and debate political issues with classmates.
Small-group teaching and feedback — Tutorials give you space to test ideas, present projects, and get one-to-one input from academics and practitioners.
Access to modern study spaces and digital tools — You’ll use the university’s main library, Bloomberg-style data resources, IT labs, and academic support services to complete research, presentations, and simulations.
This degree opens the door to a wide range of careers because it blends three in-demand areas — business, marketing, and politics. Graduates go into roles such as marketing executive, policy analyst, business consultant, communications officer, international relations assistant or civil service trainee. Employers value this course because it produces graduates who not only understand how the economy works but can also analyse political decisions and design strategies that make sense in the real world.
Here’s how Dundee helps you get there:
Strong Careers Support – You’ll have access to Dundee’s Careers Service from day one — including CV workshops, mock interviews, one-on-one guidance, and a “JobShop” system that lists around 8,000 internships, part-time roles and graduate jobs every year.
Employer Networking Events – The university hosts 7 career fairs annually, where over 250 companies, government agencies, charities and multinational firms visit campus to recruit students.
Graduate Success & Salaries – Economics and Business graduates from Dundee report average earnings of £27,000–£29,000 just 15 months after graduation (DiscoverUni).
Real Industry Connect – Through client-based marketing projects, guest speakers from industry and political simulation activities, you gain experience that goes on your CV — not just in your degree transcript.
Global Recognition – The School of Business is AACSB-accredited, a mark held by less than 6% of business schools worldwide, which adds long-term value to your degree when applying for jobs internationally.
