Program Overview

At the University of Hull, the BSc (Hons) Economics programme offers a rigorous blend of economic theory, quantitative methods and real-world practice—perfect for students looking to understand how markets, policy and organisations operate. Curriculum structure:

Year 1: You’ll start by grounding yourself in core modules such as Introduction to Economics, Computing Skills and Data Analysis for Economics, and Quantitative Methods for Economics. These early units build your understanding of micro- and macro-economics and equip you with data and statistical tools for further study. 

Year 2: In your second year you’ll progress to intermediate topics such as Microeconomics in Context: Learning Through Games and Simulations, Macroeconomics: Managing the Economy and start working with applied modules like Responsible Business in Society. This year deepens your theoretical knowledge and brings more applied, real-world economics into play. 

Year 3: In the final year you may specialise with units like Contemporary Debates in Macroeconomics, Environmental Economics and Climate Change Policy, and complete a major project or dissertation. There’s also an option to include a placement year or study abroad route for a full-year industry or international experience.
