Program Overview

The Business Economics BSc combines the study of economics with a wide variety of business and finance-related topics, meaning that you will gain an awareness of the business and financial environment as well as current business issues. It offers an opportunity for students with a quantitative background to study economics and business economics in an applied setting.

Year 1 (shared across all Economics degrees): Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Mathematics for Economics 1 & 2, Statistics, Contemporary Issues in Economics, Finance and Business, Intro to Economic Data Analysis. Option to switch to Business Economics, Data Analytics, Accounting, or Finance tracks.

Year 2: Intermediate Micro & Macro, Econometrics, Data Analytics Methods 1 & 2, Topics in Applied Econometrics.

Optional Year 3: Industry Placement or Study Abroad with 150+ global partners.

Final Year: Choose from Economic Forecasting, Behavioural Economics, International Trade, Industrial Organisation + complete a Research Project or Dissertation.

Assessment: Combination of examinations, coursework, presentations, and projects designed to evaluate both theoretical understanding and practical application of economic and business concepts.​

Year in Industry (Placement Year): An optional, salaried placement year between the second and final years, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in a relevant business or economic role.

Study Abroad Programs: Students may opt for a year studying abroad at one of the University's partner institutions worldwide, experiencing different cultural and educational environments. Places are offered on a competitive basis, and eligibility depends on academic performance in Years 1 and 2. ​The University has partnerships with approximately 150 institutions in over 20 countries
