BAEcon Economics and Philosophy

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Manchester

Program Overview

The BAEcon Economics and Philosophy at the University of Manchester offers a rigorous interdisciplinary education that develops both quantitative and conceptual expertise.

In the Economics component, students study economic behavior, policy, and systems through the core theories of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics. They build proficiency in quantitative methods, including statistical analysis, econometric modeling, and data interpretation, while exploring real-world applications in public policy, market regulation, economic development, inequality, and globalization.

In Philosophy, students engage critically with fundamental ethical, political, and epistemological theories, examining questions of rationality, justice, decision-making, and the organization of societies. The program emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach, encouraging students to explore the philosophical foundations of economic theories and normative debates surrounding resource distribution, market ethics, and government intervention, thereby equipping graduates with a uniquely analytical perspective essential for complex policy and economic analysis.
