Program Overview

The BA Economics & Finance at the University of Strathclyde combines economic theory with practical finance to help students understand markets, institutions and financial decision-making. It suits students aiming for careers in banking, investment, consulting, business or public policy.

Curriculum structure

Year 1:
Students study Principles of Economics, Introductory Finance, and the Management Development Programme, building foundations in economic thinking, financial concepts and professional skills.

Year 2:
Learning deepens through Intermediate Microeconomics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, and Accounting & Financial Analysis, focusing on market behaviour, policy analysis and financial reporting.

Year 3:

Year 4: 

The dissertation is an important part of the fourth year programme. Single Honours Economics BA students are required to submit a dissertation in Economics.
