Program Overview

The BA (Hons) Economics at University of Strathclyde offers you the chance to explore how consumers, firms and governments make decisions—and how those decisions shape the economy and society. Curriculum structure

 

  • Year 1: You’ll begin with a broad foundation in business and economics via the Management Development Programme 1, while studying modules like Introduction to Economics and Business Analysis & Technology and Introduction to Marketing & Entrepreneurship. This gives you a solid grounding in both economic theory and the business context. 

  • Year 2: You’ll focus on core economic modules such as Intermediate Microeconomics and Macroeconomics 2 where you learn to analyse markets, consumer choice and policy decision-making—equipping you with deeper quantitative and economic modelling skills. 

  • Year 3 (Honours): In your final year you’ll engage in advanced topics like Information Economics, Applied Econometrics and undertake a Dissertation, enabling you to apply economic tools to real-world issues, conduct independent research and demonstrate specialist knowledge.

 

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)
