You’ll also start your Professional Development module to prepare for real-world work. 

Year 2: In the second year you’ll take on Intermediate Macroeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics and a module like Economic Research Skills with Professional Advancement—you’ll sharpen both quantitative techniques and practical reasoning by analysing real data and cases. 

Final Year: Your final year includes modules such as Economics Project, Debates in Economic Policy and Client Facing Briefing, where you’ll apply everything you’ve learned to authentic economic challenges, present work to external stakeholders and specialise via optional modules like Behavioural Economics or Global Finance and Banking.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

  • Access to the Financial Markets Lab at Bristol Business School, designed for working with live financial data and simulations. 

  • Optional 40-week paid sandwich placement after Year 2, with past placements at the Government Economic Service (Treasury, ONS), rewarding you with skills and employer exposure. 

  • Use of industry-standard software and databases for quantitative and qualitative research methods (via modules emphasising data analysis and presentation) as confirmed in the programme specification. 

  • Opportunities for a study year abroad, enabling you to apply economics in international contexts and gain cultural as well as analytical experience. 

  • Specialist learning spaces, group-study areas and a dedicated library hub offering access to economic journals, industry databases and peer-collaboration spaces.
