University of the West of England History

University of the West of England has got a long history. It was established in 1595 as the Merchant Ventures Navigation School. It is public research university situated in Bristol in England. It has gone through many name changes from Merchant Ventures Navigation School to Merchant Ventures Technical College to Bristol Polytechnic. It finally gained its recognition as the university in 1992. The university got the strong foundation with the formation of various college and institutions.

University of the West of England Programs, Courses and Schools

University of the West of England is well known for its academics and research facilities. The university has got four faculties which are subdivided into various departments namely Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education, Faculty of Business and Law, Faculty of Environment and Technology and Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences along with Hartpury College which is an associate faculty. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, professional short courses, part time courses, degree apprenticeship and international college courses.

There are highly skilled faculties. Student to faculty ratio is low. The university has got research, robotics laboratory and National College for legal training.

University of the West of England is the huge infrastructure. The campus is highly safe with the provision of all the facilities to the students. The university has got four campuses built in it namely Frenchay Campus, Glenside Campus, City Campus and Gloucester Campus. There is a provision of cafeteria, parking areas, auditoriums, labs, classrooms, sports centres, studios, social spaces, student unions’, conference centres, printing centres, healthcare facilities, fitness centre and study spaces. Students can become the part of student union and organisations and can be a part of various events and activities across the university.

University’s library is the high-tech library with the huge collections of books, databases, journals, exam papers, reference guides, research repository and magazines. Study areas are available to have discussions and to study. Digital access to media helps students to have tutorials and training sessions on the computer systems available in the library.
